Il bambino sopravvissuto
The boy who lived
pagina 2
When the (spouses) Dursley(s) woke up, the Tuesday morning was grey and covered in which we begin the story, in an overcast sky that did not foreshadow the strange and mysterious things that would soon happen in the country. Mr. Dursley chose, humming, his featureless necktie of the day from his wardrobe, and Mrs. Dursley continued to talk nonstop while, with great effort, she forced Dudley into his highchair, who was screaming at the top of his lungs.
No one noticed the huge, brown owl that came in a flutter of wings in front of the window.
At 8:30, Mr. Dursley took his briefcase, touched his lips to his wife's cheek, and tried to give a kiss to Dudley, but missed, because in that moment, in a furious tantrum, the baby boy was flinging his oatmeal onto the wall. "Little brat!" said Mr. Dursley, laughing, as he left the house. He got in his car and reversed the driveway of Number 4.
At the street corner he noticed the first sign of something strange: a cat that was reading a map. For a second, Mr. Dursley didn't believe what he had seen; then jerked his head around and looked again. There was a tabby cat standing upright on its hind legs, at the corner of Privet Drive, map in the shadow. Was the devil in his mind? The light must have played tricks on him. He rubbed his eyes and fixed them on the cat, who returned the look. While the car turned the corner and drove onto the street, Mr. Dursley have his eyes on the cat in his rear-view mirror. This time, the cat was reading the street sign that indicated Privet Drive. No, it was looking; cats don't know how to read maps nor street signs. Mr. Dursley collected his thoughts and put the cat out of his mind. While he drove into the city, he didn't think of anything but the large order of drills that he was hoping he would receive that day.
